Agriculture is principal economic activity of Nepal. 80% population is depends on agriculture and it contributes 37% in Gross Domestic Production (GDP) Rice and wheat are the main food crops. Beside agriculture tourism, hydro power and small cottage industries are the main industries. Tea, coffee, handicrafts, garments, ghee are the major product in the aspect of export.  Now a days foreign employment trend is increasing. Therefore foreign remittance's contribution also remarkable in  national economy. Lots of banks, financial institutions and cooperatives are actively performing their performance.  Water resources, natural beauties like, mountains, lakes, jungles are defined as a major resources. But there is lacking of optimum utilization of it. Due to this unemployment ratio is high. Per capita income is lower then the other countries. Nepal is practicing five years planning of development from around 50 years to till the date. In every plan it declare the issue which one have to give the first priority.  Then the government will allocated the high percentage of budget on that sector. In the initial phase  agriculture, communication, transportation infrastructure was the firs priority of the government but in now a days in education, improvement of government administration, rural development the government plans are emphasized .
